The loss of biodiversity (biological diversity) is not only a trend in our country, but also in the whole world. Biodiversity is the immune system of the biosphere. In the event of drastic environmental changes, there is a chance that the many forms of adaptation will survive. Biodiversity is therefore also the stability of the system. It is important to address the local and global conservation of a place as rich in natural treasures as Sépalma and its surroundings. Developing and presenting strategies for biodiversity conservation is a project of major importance not only for researchers, but for all of us, and one on which it is worthwhile to develop a broad knowledge base. The programme in Sépalma includes various initiatives related to biodiversity enhancement projects and education around Sépalma.
Without being exhaustive, projects such as the installation and monitoring of soot tree piles, stone piles, compost heaps and the creation of information boards, lookout points and benches at these and other priority sites include:
- Flora and fauna of the apple of Sépalma
- standing and lying dead wood as habitat
- endangered decomposers (dung beetle, fungi, graveyard beetle)
- caterpillars, butterflies and their food plants
- carbon storage root space
- woody plants create habitat
- the gardener of the pasture: the harrier
