Vetsuisse Faculty Zürich

Vetsuisse Faculty Zürich works closely with the Szépalma Foundation on various projects, including advisory work on veterinary issues. Two such joint tools are currently in use:

Vetdrop

Vetdrop is a treatment system designed for the non-invasive application of natural and synthetic pharmaceutical ingredients to animal skin. It is a novel concept that allows the delivery of drugs into the skin and deeper subcutaneous tissues via oxygen. This microdispersion allows the substances to be absorbed through the skin and reach deeper tissue layers (e.g. joints), where they form a drug reservoir that supports regeneration. The system does not damage the skin and the application is painless. Even sensitive or traumatised animals accept the treatment because the device is very pleasant for the animal, cooling, massaging and soothing.

Watair

+It is a system that produces an active ingredient directly from drinking water, salt, by a chemical process called electrolysis. The electrolysis of the membrane cells produces the active ingredient Xeral® – a very pure, pH neutral active ingredient consisting of hypochlorous acid (HOCl). Human or animal tissues are not sensitive to hypochlorous acid, so it does not damage tissues because protective mechanisms have been developed that render them insensitive to hypochlorous acid. Xeral® is not only highly antiviral, bactericidal and antifungal, it also breaks down the biofilm that bacteria develop on the surface of a wound, for example, which helps to speed up the healing process in animals and treat certain health problems. It is also perfectly suitable and approved for surface disinfection.
