Forest knowledge tour
Participants will be guided through the forests of the High Bakony for an hour and a half to discover the flora and fauna of the beech and oak forests.
The Bakony forest shows a different side in every season. Our forest tours will give you a closer look at the wildlife in the forests and fields around Szépalma.
Sessions and guided tours are held by Mónika Sinigla, botanist at the Natural History Museum of Bakony.
In spring, a colorful carpet of bulbous plants covers the beech ground, while in summer, the cool shade of green foliage provides a pleasant feeling of warmth against the sun’s rays.
While in autumn, after a prolonged rainfall along the forest paths, the yellowish-purple avens are full of mushrooms, for the less frosty it is a real treat to follow the tracks of the wild in the freshly fallen snow in winter.
Adult and children’s groups are welcome to participate in the following activities:
“Medicine in a tree, in a grass” – herbal knowledge tour
“My flower, my flower…” – spring flower identification, learning about the plants around the Szépalma
“A walk in the past, with my soul again…” – a walk in the fragrant spring arboretum
“Only those who know the trees can protect them” – Knowing and protecting the natural treasures of your beautiful apple
Forest mate-finding game for children – outdoors
Will you eat it? – which of the plants and mushrooms you learn about are edible and which are not – a game for children
Price of the programmes – by appointment: 33.000,- HUF (minimum 6 persons, maximum 50 persons)
During the sessions, the decades-old use of the trees of the Bakony forests (lime-burning, pottery, etc.), the local applications of forest and game management, nature conservation and environmental protection are presented, and the possibilities of using the healing wild flowers of the forest fields or even the poisonous plants are introduced during a pleasant walk.
Wine tasting
Expert speakers, excellent Hungarian wines, cosy environment.
The exact price of the programme is determined by the number of wines to be tasted and their variety. Approximately 10 000 Ft,-/person (minimum 10 persons)
Guided walking tour – available at any time of year
Let’s get to know the real beauty of the Bakony from a natural perspective on a guided hiking tour!
On our group hike to the highest point of the Bakony, the 709-metre high Kőris Hill. If you want to experience a real hike in boots, come with us!
The distance is 14 km, starting from Szépalma and following exciting hiking trails, it takes about 2 hours to reach the Kőris Hill lookout, where we have a picnic and then return to the hotel on another route. During our walk, we pass the largest fish cemetery in Central Europe.
Ask for our offer for a 4-hour hike on the Kőris Mountains, including a guided tour and a picnic pack per person (sandwich, soft drink, chocolate, apple).
Stud farm – visit
We invite all those who would like to get acquainted with the everyday life and the livestock farming features of the long-established Szépalma stud farm to visit the farm.
During our guided tour we will walk through the former stud farm of the Eszterházy family, while in the shade of the arboreal trees of the arboreal estate we can feel the atmosphere of the past.
At the meeting of past and present, let’s take a moment! Your beauty is a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We get away. We can learn how our equestrian traditions fit into the specificities of today’s livestock farming in Szépalma.
Many of our special offers include a visit to a stud farm.
Ask our colleagues for an appointment! Please note that the horses on the stud farm spend most of the day in the pastures, so we are not always able to see them up close during the stud farm visit. Laser combat – strategic laser combat
Speed – attention – cooperation… A team-building game for groups who don’t want to get blue-green stains from the dye cartridges 🙂
Laser Battle is an action-packed strategic team-building program that combines the experience of paintball and numbers warfare with 21st century computer technology. It’s a battle between two teams that “hunt” each other down with infrared beam weapons as they complete a complex mission. Success depends on developing a workable strategy and following it with discipline. Are the participants able to work as a coordinated team and communicate effectively in a tense situation? It is not only speed, skill and teamwork that count, but also the most accurate use of tools. The weapons operate with infrared rays and are completely harmless to the environment and to the participants.
Cooking competition
A nice team-building program for those who have already tried their hand in their own kitchen but want to go further…
The program can include a hike and a food hunt, but can also start immediately with the handover of food and equipment. The point is that participants, divided into small teams, prepare and serve the dishes independently, without outside help, and are assessed by a master chef from the Szépalma Hotel kitchen. The participating teams will be rewarded according to the following criteria: a T-shirt with a team-building cooking motif, a cake, champagne…
Tree planting program in Szépalma
Feel a bit of the forest to yourself! Plant a tree in Szépalma!
Many of us would like to do something so that our children and grandchildren can also go hiking in our native forests. From March to November, we invite our guests to a tree planting program in the field next to the hotel (next to the playground), where they can plant a tree of their choice (linden, silver linden, beech, pedunculate oak, bird’s-foot trefoil) and contribute to the enrichment of the forest, which is so dear to us all, and form a personal bond with the forest.
