Guided walking tours

Let’s get to know the real beauty of the Bakony from a natural perspective on a guided hiking tour!

We will hike together to the highest point of the Bakony, the 709-meter high Kőris Hill. If you want to experience a real hike in boots, come with us!

The distance is 14 km, starting from Szépalma and following exciting hiking trails, it takes about 2 hours to reach the Kőris Hill lookout, where you can rest and then return to the hotel by another route. During our walk, we pass the largest fish cemetery in Central Europe.

A picnic pack (sandwich, soft drink, chocolate, apple) is available for the tour, which lasts about 4 hours, for 3.500,- HUF/person.

Treasure hunt with dog

We want to bring joy: the joy of roaming together, the joy of shared experiences, the joy of spending time with your dog. Treasure hunt with your dog!

This time, we have hidden a doggy gift in the box, which is not only fun to find, but also to eat! The hiding place of the box is determined by GPS points.

Guided forestry tours

The Bakony forest shows a different side in every season. Our forest tours will give you a closer look at the wildlife in the forests and fields around Szépalma.

The nature around the center of Szépalma shows a different face in every season:

In spring, a colorful carpet of bulbous plants covers the beech ground, while in summer, the cool shade of green foliage provides a pleasant feeling of warmth against the sun’s rays. While in autumn, after a long rainfall along the forest roads, the yellowish-purple avens are full of mushrooms, for the less frosty it is a real treat to follow the tracks of the wild beech in the freshly fallen snow.

Sessions and guided tours are held by Mónika Sinigla, botanist of the Natural History Museum of Bakony.

Please contact our reception staff for current dates and times.

Our hotel offers guided forest tours on Saturdays at 10 am , during which you can learn about the use of the Bakony forests’ trees over the decades (lime burning, potash cooking, etc.), the local applications of forest and game management, nature conservation and environmental protection, the possibilities of using the healing wild flowers of the forest fields, or even the poisonous plants during a pleasant walk.

Treasure hunt

A GPS treasure hunt will keep even the kids who might otherwise prefer to sit in front of a computer busy…

During the gps treasure hunt, the family is given a simple hiking GPS device at the hotel reception, which guides the treasure hunters to an unknown location in the beautiful Bakony forest. There they have to search persistently to find the “treasure chest” with various surprise gifts.

The family can choose the distance and difficulty of the point before setting off. Have a good trip and good luck!

Planetarium

The Pannon Observatory is home to the most modern digital planetarium in our country. Projected onto an 8-metre diameter hemispherical dome, the 3D image is twice the resolution of HD images, and the 5.1 surround sound system takes us on an unforgettable cosmic journey in the same armchairs you’ve seen in IMAX cinemas. Attention! The ticket includes one planetarium show! Last screening: 17.00

Star Kingdom (22 minutes, primary school age to seniors, for everyone) Show starts every hour on the hour. This new 3D planetarium show explores the life, evolution and demise of stars, the different types of star clusters and the world of our galaxy, the Milky Way. In addition to the special animations, the starlit landscapes of the Bakony and the Balaton highlands are also featured.

Oasis in Space (22 minutes, for everyone from primary school age to seniors) Optional with group booking or by purchasing a film + ticket.

The 3D planetarium show presents our solar system, the planets and, as an oasis in space, our Earth. The Hungarian voice of the planetarium show, produced by the Denver Museum of Natural History (USA), is László Helyei.

Zula’s Brigade (22 min, for preschoolers and schoolchildren) Optional by group registration or by purchasing a film + ticket.

Telescope Park Under the 5.5 m diameter telescope dome of the Pannon Observatory, a telescope park for scientific needs welcomes visitors. In addition to a demonstration of the construction and operation of telescopes, the Sun will be observed in cloudless weather using a special H-alpha solar telescope. This is a particularly exciting discovery, given the current increased solar activity!

All these activities will last approximately 1.5-2 hours in total, depending on demand. As most of the daytime programe is not dependent on the weather, the Pannonian Observatory is certainly a tourist destination to plan for.
